Group Portraits

GROUP PORTRAITS

Group portraits are a favorite of mine. I have always loved Irving Penn’s group portraits in black and white. Group shots can be difficult in situations where space is limited or there is no way to vary the height of the subjects. Stairs always help to get good separation between people and I always bring a ladder with me on location to help change the perspective.

A common problem in group portraits is getting a shot with everyone’s eyes open. To help with this I take a lot of shots, and if that doesn’t do the trick I am an expert retoucher and can take eyes from one image and move them to another. The same goes for facial expressions. I can grab certain people from one shot and replace them in another.
